ipod cutting out
« on: August 10, 2012, 10:27:38 PM »

Anyone have issues with the ipod cutting in and out like its has a loose wire?  I checked ipod connection and turned off cb.  Bike is 2012 ultra, 3 weeks old and 650 miles.  Just started this week.  I am in Texas and it seems to be worse as the ambient air temp goes higher.  Thanks for your help.

It's a issue with the I Pod software. Mine does it every once in a while and I disconnect and it's fine. Haven't heard of a fix. Maybe someone else has.

The plug OUTSIDE of the right saddle bag is pretty prone to corrosion.  Check it for "green".  Clean it up, grease it up with non-conducting grease.  Might fix it.  Seems waaay too new for that though.

My '11 was just "fixed" by a dealer.  Rode away from  the dealership, clicked over to iPod.  Dead!

They're just not ready for prime time.

Iron.  Thank you for the response.  I will test CD and fm today.  I have been listening to ipod since new.  Friday I have tried the unplug the ipod, turn it off, replug and turn it on and it still cut out some durring that ride.  I will let you know more after some testing.

Happens on FM and CD also.  Seems most noticable when i am hitting bumps or rough area of the road.  Like a bad connection at amp or radio or bad solder joint.

That is crazy for 650 miles.
Just let the dealer deal with it.

Stupid question here, but I had the same issue after getting back my Garmin for the second time. I got it back and was testing it and IPOD, XM and radio were all cutting out. It took me two stops to figure out that the GPS volume was on mute, but the speaker switch was in the middle, so when the turn by turn voice-over attempted to interrupt the radio, since the volume was on mute and the speaker switch was in the wrong position, all if got was silence! Sounds just like the head unit is cutting out!
