Help! Speaker just quit on my 2011 with 19,200 miles on her!
« on: August 12, 2012, 09:29:39 PM »

Been out riding all day and stopped to take some pictures.  When I started the bike back up, I got no sound from the speakers. I checked and tried all my sources, but still no sound (yes, the volumes is truned up).  When I got home I checked the amp fuse and it had NOT blown.  Now what??? Have never had an issue with the stereo since purchase.  The stereo is on and shows everything like normal, just no sound.  Does this mean my amp is bad???
Any input would be greatly appreciated! :-[

Hopefully you're still under warranty. It's most likely the amp. If not, maybe you've got a great dealer in your area that can fudge the warranty process a bit.

If the Radio still powers up and functions it is your amp unless the amp might have got unplugged check connections, but more than likely needs replaced.

I'm dropping her off tonight to my dealership. She is going to get 20000 mile service and a new back tire.
And yes, I have the extended warranty too!

I'm getting my 2nd replacement amp (3rd amp total including original) installed as we speak. See Mano's thread here =>  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=67649.0

I was hesitant to purchase the extended warranty but I did get the 5 year (total) ESP pkg including tire and wheel.  From reading this and other Harley sites it sounds like it was a good decision, especially with all the electronics on the CVO.

It's sad IMHO that after paying the inflated prices Harley charges for their top of the line product, people need to also pay for mechanical breakdown insurance (ESP) because the bikes are not reliable.  I wonder when, or better yet if, Harley will ever feel a need to fix the quality problems?  So far they seem to like it the way it is; people pay top dollar for the bikes, Harley and the dealers then both make a nice little extra profit on the sale of the ESP, and when the parts fail Harley makes another profit selling the repair parts that the customer and ESP company pay for.  My guess is that until customers stop accepting poor quality, Harley will be happy to just continue down the same path.

Having the same problem - is there a way to determine if it is the HK unit or the amp?

I am having the same problem w/my '11 CVO FLHXSE2 w/21,147 miles.  My speaker audible goes out as well, but every thing on the dash shows normal.  I switched over the radio to CD, to IPAD and no change.  I figured out if I turned the power off and then back on it would then stay on for a couple minutes or two hours.  It varied, so I just kept turning it off/on to keep sound while I was out to my first trip to Sturgis riding all over.  I dropped it off today to the dealer for 20K service and they said it would be the stereo system.  Said they never replaced an amp for that issue.

That is pretty much what mine did. It was the amp.  Got it replaced and no problems since.
