rim job

need help. thinking bout changing rims on 2009 springer.stock rear rim size is 18 x 8.00 can you replace with 18  x 8.50? thanks.

Nope, neither of those will fit the swingarm.  Eighteen inch wide rims will definitely require a custom frame and swingarm.  ;)

I believe the stock rim is 8.00 X 18 and the tire is a 240/40R18.  The alternate rim size listed by Dunlop for that tire is a 8.50 X 18, but they recommend the 8.00 X 18.  Why do you want to change the size?

I can't think of any reason why a .5" wider rim would hurt a thing, since Dunlop lists the 8.50" rim as acceptable for the tire involved.  Changing the width of the rim will change the profile of the tire slightly, so you can't go overboard.  That's why I like to look at the specs for the tire to see what size rim can be used.

I have avon cobra tyres and they list 8.5 as the primary rim size so I'm thinking your right also.Thanks for the help.
