Looking for lighter tint windshield
« on: August 30, 2012, 02:24:01 PM »

I was wondering if someone can tell me if the stock 4" windshield is the "Opaque" one (58204-98) or the "Dark Smoked" one (58207-04)

I love the 4" height, and don't want to change anything about it, except for making it a little easier to see through. I'm a little on the short side (5'6") and it would improve my forward vision. I have the triple bags, but the 1-2 inches of windshield above it are pretty tough to see through if it's not bright out. Probably a difference of 10 feet worth of visibility directly in front of me...

I'm hoping the stock one is the black one, and I can just go to the "dark smoked"...

Thanks in advance...

Kidd, the -98 part number is opaque (can't see through) and the -04 part number is the dark tinted.  I changed out my 4" dark tinted on both my 09 SG and 12 SESG with the 57185-05 which is the 7" dark tinted wind deflector and am happy with the results.  I am also 5'6" and the 7" I can see over fine (with room to spare) and through, when needed but not as easy to look through in the middle of the night.  If you are set on HD products, either the 4" or 7" dark tint shield will work.  However, taking advantage of the sale Clearview sale this Labor Day Weekend might be a good option, too.  Lot's of posts on this site about the Clearview shield.  The link VaEagle has on his reply will get you started.. :bananarock:

good luck :2vrolijk_21:

X2 on Clearview....you will like the recurve for additional wind deflection. Freedom shields are nice also and they make a 7".....clearview makes a 6.5" and an 8" if that works for ya..and the sale doesn't hurt either.
