Pre Delivery Inspection Checklist?
« on: August 20, 2006, 09:48:10 AM »

Looks like my 07 B&O will come in this week (hopefully).  When I picked up my 05 black FLHRCI I just made sure the black paint looked good, checked the oil levels, and did the normal startup checklist.

Has anyone completed a more extensive list of items I could use as a checklist when I get to the dealer?

The last time I was in a "new bike fog" and don't want to miss anything this time...

Thanks.

If this is your first Ultra they (dealer ) Should give you the option of asking how do I work the Raido & Cb and Intercom Setup and such. Showing you how to check the levels, but most likely will happen no matter how prepared you are you will forget everything when you see the Bright Shiney New Stuff. They (dealer Knows and counts on this) So they will just smile and nod as you ride off  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] Enjoy your NEW BRIGHT AND SHINNEY  [smiley=banana.gif]

Ask about the DVD Welcome to the Family it Show how to work and setup the Radio (all options)

nixobilly, Welcome to the site.  When I picked up my cuse it was closing time because I received the call that my new bright and shinny bike was in and they said it looked just friggin beautiful..... Words from a salesman..... I just could not wait till the next day.  My suggestion is to pick the bike up in the bright sun light and in the day time and spend an hour looking at it.... You will see things others won't.  I was at a dealership and in the back I seen an 06 cuse being picked up and the guy was just there staring at the bike.  He found three things wrong with the bike other than the paint by doing this that might be hard to get fixed if he had drove it off.  Or should I say before you lay your 34k down........

There are risks and costs to a program of action.  But they are far less than the long range risks and costs of comfortable inaction.

Make sure you look closely at the paint job, especially in the sun.  I met a guy with a 2007 Screaming Eagle Road King this Sunday & he has a big old paint blemmish on the top of his gas tank that was missed when he picked the bike up and had a chrome problem in the rear.

Take your time and look everything over.  Recommend a test drive to note any tranny issues.  Also check to see that your radio has the latest software loaded...should be 8.0 or higher.  Note any loose material on the rear tour pack.  I have seen several pictures and one in person with wavy leather or pleather!  Make sure the heated seat and grips work.

Last, start the engine cold and let it idle....if it stalls contiously, make the dealer note that.

Enjoy your new scoot....mine will be in in November!!!!!
