Security System issue
« on: September 13, 2012, 08:01:41 AM »

Hello all,

Noticed yesterday that the key fob did not enable the security system figured dead battery.

Got home replaced battery same issue, second key fob did not function either.

I did some searching and found that maybe fob was out of sync, so held the fob button for 15-30 seconds and fob worked second fob still didnt function.

Set the alarm last night then, this morning fob's did not operate again.

I tried my code that I wrote down on the security card no go, tried to use the factory default (last 5 of the vin) alarm went off.

Now the security icon light is blinking every second. Any suggestions?

I read to reset the system to turn the ignition on and pull the main fuse.

Not sure if this would work or screw with the TMax ecm.

Thanks for any help.

Ride safe!

Update
Picked up some new batteries today, and walla, both key fobs working!  date code on new battery 1Y, old battery 7Y.

Will replace these every couple of years!

Info on date codes;

The manufacturing date can be abbreviated to the last digit of the year, followed by a digit or letter indicating the month, where O, Y, and Z are used for October, November and December, respectively (e.g., 01 = January 1990 or January 2000, 9Y = November 1999).
