Motor Oil Leaking at Engine Trans Connection
« on: October 18, 2012, 03:20:43 PM »

Hey guys...  I have 05 SEEG with 42K miles - Motor oil seems to be leaking from between where the engine and transmission mate up... I see an oil-like stain along the top seam where they connect and now oil is accumulating and leaking onto the floor beneath.  It appears to be motor oil because it is not Redline pink.  Does anyone know what is up and how to fix this?  Is this something that will requires a dealer visit?  Thank you for any advice or thoughts.

Its not a leak, There is no oil passage in there. Many if not all do it to some extent, much more noticable on the silver engines. I don't know why they do it. Just keep cleaning it up with brake cleaner.

That's exactly what I was told about mine (from tech @ dealer) and what I have done to clean it up. Kury also makes a cover that will fit over that area that some have used to cover and forget about the seepage.

Almost appears to be some type of condensation from the temp difference between the mating surfaces.

We believe that is evidence of the engine moving ever so slighty, rubbing against the trans, creating the black stain, just as if you started to polish aluminum, when the black/dark starts to occur.

Maybe from the cheesy vent line connection?
