Need some input on adding pullbacks on 2011 Street Glide
« on: September 26, 2012, 10:28:42 PM »

Ok, I know this subject has been done to death, but here I go......The P&A books says the Harley Pullback (reduced reach) handlebars will not work with the CVO's.  Can anyone tell me if these are what you put on your bike and if so, did you have to extend any wiring/clutch/brake cables?? I know I may have to change mirrors if the bars are mounted hi.....probably won't be in my case. My dealer says I am looking at about 1-1/2 hours labor for install.....does this sound right or like enough time?? One place said it would be over $700 to install (with extending lines). I want to know exactly what other 2011 owners are running into with the reduced reach bars.
Thanks for the input!

Kim,,, many of here switched out the bars and went with Wild Ones 575s for the sesg.   I have them and they are great.  All the cables and wiring reached fine and they have a great wrist angle.   The come back 2" and they are 2" higher.   And they are 11/4" thick. They look great on the bike.   They really are good.  Nice and comfortable too.  I did 2200 miles last week and didnt want to get off the bike.     :2vrolijk_21:

The MOCO's concern is blocking SG mirrors. I replaced mine with the ones with spots. Work pretty good. Bar mounted mirrors even better. You will need longer cables. It ain't cheap, but well worth the cost/effort to get the bars right.

I agree with Stu., I put the Wild One Chubby's 575's on my 2012 SG and I couldn't be happier.  They are 2" back, 2" out and 2" up.  I didn't need to change any cables.  Turning the MC in a small radius was so much easier with these handlebars.  Hope this helps.

I had my bars changed out for the HD reduced reach bars.  No cable change was neccessary, but I did have to replace the mirrors.

The hour and half time sounds pretty quick to me.  Lots of wires to be pulled, plus unassembling and reassmbling all the connectors.

I needed a longer clutch line when I did the WO575's but that's about it. 1 1/2 labor does not sound right--maybe just to wire the bars..but a full install on the bike--That's cheap!!!

The Wild One 575's are the way to go on a Batwing.  100% better wrist angle.  It's hard to say whether you'll need another clutch hose until you actually do it.  Some do, some don't.  Most can be rerouted a bit inside the fairing and be just fine.

The 1.5 hours the dealer quoted you is highly suspect.  My guess is that they were quoting you a price for changing bars on a bike with external wiring on the bars.  It's physically impossible to do the bars with the internal wiring in 1.5 hours, IMO.  On my '06, I did the work myself and it took me about 6 hours.  I'm sure somebody that does it all the time would be faster, but there's a limit to how fast anybody can be doing this.  Lots of wires and connectors that have to be undone and put back together.  It ain't rocket science, but it takes some patience and a methodical approach.

You better get that time in writing before they change the price of installation :o  My wife has the 575's and fit her perfect.
