The lifters on the 110's are suspect.  Poor quality would be the cause.  The only way to prevent it is to replace them before they break.  25K would probably be a good time to start thinking about replacing them, but it will be on your own dime.  Otherwise, either have a warranty, keep your fingers crossed, and hope it either doesn't happen, or doesn't happen at an inopportune time, like out in BFE somewhere.  That about covers the options.

Thought about upgrading lifters (and other items) on new engine before install  ? Would be a nice time to do it .

Indeed the safest road to Hell is the gradual one - the gentle slope , soft underfoot , without sudden turnings , without milestones , without signpost's.

This same thing happen to mine at 10,000 miles. I heard a clicking noisy and went straight to the H/D shop, they said the hard coating had start coming off the lifters and took out the cams and working on the oil pump, they replaced all parts that were bad but still I have the same H/D lifters except new.  I"m think about 25,000 replacing the lifters with a differ type than harley. So if your motors start sounding a little differ on the top end around the heads you better  get it in the shop are you will have a blown engine in few miles.
