Looking for a small unobtrusive windshield or fairing
« on: March 01, 2007, 11:07:48 PM »

If I ever make up my mind about the color SEFB I want, I will need a line on a small windshield.  Something befitting the lines and integrity of a hot bike.  Most I have seen look obtrusive.

Anybody know the maker of a smoke or solid wind deflector?  I have been riding ultras long enough now to know I will need something.
Thanks

I agree with you. I am looking for the same thing. Mostly for wind deflection. Harley doesn't offer much. I currently have a Kingsize detachable. It is too big for what I like.

Why not have it cut down, not a big deal?

So far the closest to what I want is "Memphis Shades 15 x 13 Del Rey" from Dennis Kirk.  It seems to tall, I guess I need to try it.

The factory shield on my CUSE2 is way cool.  Thats the feel I want here, dark smoke and small.

I seem to recall a small wind deflector several years back which was adjustable and real short.  My recollection though it needed to be painted.  Then we have the dreaded paint matching issue.

I always seem to want what I can't have.  Well I guess if I were ever satisfied, I would not have a second bike issue at all.

Try this one...I've looked for 4 months for one to put on my SEVROD...got one the other day and it is VERY well made, plus goes with the lines of the bike.  Good customer service as well.

Make sure whichever windshield you decide on will clear your tach.

Terry, I see that has the euro lip like the Clearview.  I bet that will be great.  I'd probably ride my DWG3 more if I had that little wind cheater on it.

Rog...it took me a long time to decide on this for the Vrod...most of the one's HD offers look like big honkin' things that you could use for a toboggan in the snow, which ruin the lines of bikes like the V or your DWG3, IMO.  This one measures 16" W x 18" tall...has a couple of extra holes for some degree of adjustment up and down, and the Euro Lip DOES make a difference, as you well know.  It's a nice thick piece of plastic too, so no flexing/warping when going down the road.  Look in the Vrod section...I've got a pic on the bike under Windshields.  You'd be impressed with the brackets and chrome work as well.  We rode Saturday, and it makes the V a lot more enjoyable to ride, just keeping that wind blast off the chest and face...not to mention the bugs...

Terry, I'm sure it raises the ride quality especially on the open road.  I had a small HD one on my stock 93 DWG and it made it a lot better.

Hey,
I just saw your posting. I am doing the same thing. I originally purchased a Harley Nostalgic windshield for my 06 SE. It did a great job keeping out the wind, but lost a lot of cool points with its size. Yesterday I discovered this new site http://www.rifle.com. Look for the Solo Shield. To me it is just perfect . The amazing part is that it is adjustable in height and angle. I just ordered one yesterday. I hope this helps for you...

Hey thanks everybody.  TC I must say you may have pointed out a winner.  The problem with most shields is all the hardware.  The Windvest appears to have tackled that and blends in nicely.
