Why do lights come ?
« on: November 11, 2012, 03:09:16 PM »

I may be over kooking the ovious, "but I don't think so" :nixweiss:.I've been told it's normal. That when I turn the ignition over to accessory the tail light & the small head lamp bulb come on. Could any one help on this "True or faults". If true how do I change it so they don't light up.

Any help on this well appreciated.

My '06 with it on accessory the only thing that lights up is the radio and the saddle bag lid spoilers are lit up....if i remember correctly.  Might be because your bike is in the U.K. and it is wired that way.   :nixweiss:

I'm in the UK and all the Harley's I have had (and I still have two) work like you say - when you switch to auxiliary the front and rear side lights come on. I guess they are classed as parking lights.

That would make sense to me. Imagine broke down on the side of and unlighted Road.

I see the issue though as when you just want your radio on you have to have the side lights on as well and then worry the battery will drain.

You hit the nail on the head there Pewter. Short of pulling the bulbs," witch is not going to happen". Since I posted,
I've have been giving it some thought the only way I can see around the situation, is to mount a rocker switch and link it in. Then I've got the controll when their on or not.  It's going to be fun working that one out.
Would any one know witch colour code to go for on those side lights?

It's poss to get the colour from the accessories plug in under the seat it's a live source wher the stop & tail light
Run . The accessories switch only pulls in the 4th pin in the plug.
