IPod sync.......IPod not respond ? Problem solved! Bad Cable!
« on: February 18, 2013, 01:34:24 PM »

Just finished installing the harley ipod module on my ultra. Double checked all my connections and the radio just keeps displaying "ipod syncing" then it displays "ipod not respond"
I suspect the cable is the problem. The end that plugs into ipod has to be wiggled before it connects.
Can anyone shed any light on this, before I rush out and buy a cable?
I bought the complete audio system (09 CVO RoadGlide) ,and all seems fine other than the suspected cable?
Any help would be appreciated.
Anyone with a cable they're not using? I'd be willing to buy it from them.

Thanks Troy

Update:
I borrowed a buddies cable and it worked!

Did you turn on the iPod?  If its off it may not sync the first time

Yes, tried it both on and off.
With iphone, it does what I explained above, and with a nano it freezes it. If a song is playing, once I plug it in, it pauses the song and won't allow you to do anything until it's unplugged.

'Had my dealer install the iPod interface on the '09 SERG a couple of months ago(my luck, Apple came out with the lightning connector less than a month later) and the dealer said something about a firmware update for the HK interface??

The first time I unplugged the iPod, the plastic around the plug on the end of the Harley cable disintegrated in my hand (on my 3rd iPhone and have 4 iPods) as I touched it, leaving just the metal plug . My dealer replaced the cable, which had a more robust plastic around the plug and better insulation on the cable

I am using an 160gig iPod Classic with a hard drive, wrapped in bubble wrap to quell the viberation, it works fine 98% of the time, sometimes I still get screwy messages/locked up, etc...

You might look into a firmware update...

Fla

Checked the firmware and it is up to date.....ST10v8.25.0
The Apple connector you mentioned, is it compatable with the harley module plug?
Do you happen to have the part number of the harley replacement cable?
I'm looking to replace the cable I have with the one that comes in the saddlebag kit, and can't find the number for just the cable.
72651-11 is the cable I have now.
