I suppose lowering the front 1" is better than 2" in regards to handling?

You don't want to lower your front end 2"...  You'd have no suspension left...

Lower both ends a maximum of 1" below STOCK with progressive suspension parts, any lower and it will be unsafe IMHO.

If that isn't low enough for you, get a different seat or have the current seat modified to lower YOU or buy boots with taller heels/soles which will effectively increase the length of your legs.
