SEEGER Road Trip
« on: May 23, 2013, 11:11:55 AM »

:orange:  Just got back from a road trip with my friend Bob on the Blue Ridge Parkway in early May.  Enroute, we enjoyed the Cherohala Skyway and the Dragons Tail.  Very cold.  Down in low 30's up on the Parkway.  Had everything I owned on, including a heated vest.  My friend Bob just wore a leather jacket -- he's hardcore.  We entered the Parkway at its southern entry point and made it all the way to Mt Airey where the weather drove us off.  Just north of Mt Mitchell we came around a corner and encountered packed snow on the road.  Wheeee!  Cold rain and fog accompanied most of our journey.  After Mt Airey we headed west across the mountains to skirt a big storm center and get to my son in Cinncinnati.  The first part of that journey had us on I-77 going north through heavy fog.  Just the week before the I-77 southbound lanes in this area were closed due a horrific pileup of vehicles in heavy fog.  We followed the tail lights of a cage and got through safely.  Got on I-81 and ran west heading for the sun.  The CVO's performed flawlessly.  Created a lot of memories on this journey.  Will now try to post photos of journey. I may need help.  Bob took the photos.  Sorry, no helmet cam.  Bob had a digital camera slung around his neck and he was snapping pictures with his free hand as we rode along.  He said sorry he didn't get a picture of the packed snow, but he was too busy just trying to stay upright.  I love this kind of ride.  When I got back home, I gave Pumpkin 4 new quarts of Amsoil.  Pumpkin eats better than I do.

:orange:  Bear tracks at the tree of shame.  Road old Pumpkin hard on the Dragons Tail but didn't leave any parts on this tree.  They cost too much to replace! :orange:

:orange:  My friend Bob at tree of shame.  He is one hard core rider and great riding riding buddy.  His CVO Street Glide was fantastic.  Engine work, tuning, Vance & Hines duals that produced a beautiful rumbling sound.  Not so with my popping  Rineharts, but lets have a moment of silence please for those behind Pumpkin when that 103 roars. :orange:

:cucumber:Bob with his CVO Street Glide.  I call it the Green Lantern.  Beautiful bike and performed flawlessly on the Parkway in severe weather conditions.    :cucumber:
