Metzler ME880's for FLHRSE4?
« on: March 25, 2013, 07:07:57 PM »

Is there any reason why the Metzler ME880 170/60R17 Rear Tire & ME880 130/70R18 Front Tire wouldn't work as replacements on my '08 FLHRSE4?  Thanks for any help or thoughts...alternatives to the dealer controlled OEM Dunlops?

I tried them on my SERK4.  They were did not like rain for the 1st 500 miles.  After that they performed OK.  They are noisier than the Dunlops.  The rear tire was shot in 8000 miles, tossing rubber chunks - exposing the core.  Been running Dunlop ever since.

However, others have run the ME880's with better luck than I had.

You might want to check out the Metzler ME 888 Marathon Ultra which has just been released.

Two sets on a Low Rider, 2nd set on my SERK3, For the ride and handling as long as i can buy them thats all i will run, Black Diamond is right they are a little slick until you scuff them in. i have about 7,000 miles on rear and 15,000 on front and still has tread, I will have to replace both before we go th Thunder Beach this fall, we ride 2 up about 98% of the time.

Thanks Greg, I'll have to check these out, My luck they won't have the odd ball size the SERK's have on the front.  :nixweiss:
