Boston to New York
« on: April 11, 2013, 05:50:56 PM »

I have got some good info from site members about riding in Boston in late Sept. Does anyone have a good route from Boston to New York? Most of what I read says they are pretty dismall Hwys but doesn't need to be the fastest way. Thanks.

What part of New York? upstate or the big city?
From upstate NY to Boston MA area the possibilities are almost endless -- depends on what you want your pace to be. Personally I would avoid I-95, I-84 through my home state of CT because of the traffic and foolish drivers. I-90 (Massachusetts turnpike) is pretty good in the western 1/2 to 2/3 of Mass. But I would break out my atlas and maps to plan a more leisurely jaunt and plan a full day ride from say the Albany NY area (Route 22N is a nice ride) to maybe Worcester Ma area or there abouts depending again on the route and pace.

I could take 2-3 days to get there ......no rush, always like to go the back way to avoid traffic if I can. Thanks for your input.

Work west of Boston on MA-2 until you cross into NY state, then south on NY-22.  Once you close to the city you are on your own. Might be good to get up into VT but not sure about time.
