Moore, OK tornado
« on: May 20, 2013, 11:53:15 PM »

I stopped by Fort Thunder HD in Moore, OK on a road trip last fall from Dallas to St Paul. Looked on the map tonite and it's about a mile from the Plaza Towers Elementary School where so many lives were lost today. Just seems wierd having been in that area recently. Hope our forum friends down there are ok!

Prayers go out to those who have lost so much!

I hope all members ok after devastating tornado rocks OK

It is hard to comprehend the magnitude of this event.

A mile wide tornado which touches down for 40 min

2 min seems like forever.

My prayers go out to everyone effected.

I hope Troy is OK, I know he is east of OK city, not south like Moore.

A good friend lives in Moore...  It took all day, but I finally heard from him this evening.  He and his family were a mile clear of the devastation...

Prayers to all involved...

Fort Thunder HD is adjacent to the Warren Theatre.  The Warren was damaged by the tornado.  I have no information about Fort Thunder.  About 1/2 mile to the north is where the 7-11 was completely destroyed and 3 lives lost.

My house is an additional 3 miles north.  No damage.  Still have electricity but no water.

Death toll has reached 91.

(very minor issue... I took the bike in Saturday for it's 1000 mile service.  I may or may not still have a bike)

There has been lots of local coverage.  We're only a couple hundred miles away and the stories of schools and hospitals leveled and swaths of town destroyed are a deja vu for too many here in Joplin.  This band of storms fell on almost exactly the 2nd anniversary of the one that nailed Joplin so it's still a wide eyed scare for many.  Best wishes to all those that went through the storm and all the responders and volunteers lining up to help.
