headset not working on one side
« on: June 07, 2013, 09:00:05 AM »

I have never used my headsets before. I tried them for the first time and one side doesn't work for the driver. Both sides do work when I plug it into the passengers port. Both headsets do the same thing so I know it's not the headsets. I have not tried to talk back and forth to see if it happens then.
Is there a setting I need to adjust or do I need to check wiring?

Any ideas would help. I'm going on a long trip next weekend and I would like to have them working properly if I can.

I would take it in to the dealer it is probably an easy quick fix. they usually have those kind of parts on hand.

If both headsets are doing it, and you're not using the same cord to do the testing, and that headset and cord work on the back socket, then I'd say you have a pin in the console socket that is not making a good connection, a wire is pinched, etc.  The console is not difficult to remove to do a visual inspection...it may be obvious and save you a trip to the dealer and risk them scratching something.  Or, just let the dealer do it if you're not comfortable doing so.

IT is a loose connection at the connector. I did not have a lot of time to check everything but I plug it back in and moved it around a little and the other speaker started working. I will pull the tank cover off and check that all wires are seated properly.
