Hard wired headset for Nolan N104
« on: June 01, 2013, 11:22:48 AM »

I've found that J&M has a setup for the N104 and they sell the helmet ready to go but I can't see where you can buy the gear an install it yourself. I'll give them a call Monday.

In the meantime:

I was wondering if there are any other options in the aftermarket?

Has anyone tried to adapt the H-D headset to work in this helmet?

Thanks,

Joe

The HD headset does not fit, Nolan makes a hard wired kit for the 104. It is the Nolan MCS. Retail is 107.95

Thanks HD-Dude! I Googled and found that Revzilla has a MCS II kit for $136. Any idea what the difference might be?

If MCS1 is good, MCS2 must be better, right? I ordered the MCS2 from Revzilla. I got a $15 discount from buying the helmet there and with free shipping it's costing me $121.

I'll tell you what, I'm saving so much money on add-ons for this new bike with all the info I've got here I might just go broke. :o

Hey Joe Vibe,
Have you installed the wired headset yet, and if so what do you think about it.
a. install simple?
b. sound quality?

The install was simple, once I figured out how to get the plastic rim off the bottom of the helmet. It snaps into the helmet and I was afraid I'd break it getting it off. Once it came off, the parts fit in like a glove. The helmet has cut outs for each piece and once I opened the helmet up it was obvious where it all went.

I'm really impressed with the sound compared to the Boom headset, but I'm far from being an audiophile. I'll post again after my ride tomorrow.

Went for a good long ride today with the Nolan and the headset sounds great BUT I'm comparing to the Boom headset in a 3/4 helmet so I don't think it's an apples to apples comparison. Like I said above, I'm not a audio expert by any means but I'm very happy with the sound and I really like the N104 helmet. It's my first full face and I'm really impressed!

If anyone has specific questions I'll do my best to answer. Just remember I've worked a lifetime in noisy industrial environments and my hearing ain't as good as it used to be.

Thank you for your replies,... Is anyone out there using the Bluetooth headset Nolan makes for the 104?
What do you think of its capabilities? I am considering each and comparing what people think.
Thanks..... Sawyer ghost

No.  I attached a sena to the outside of my Nolan.  I didn't want to buy a whole new set of comms for the family just because I bought a new helmet. When I purchased the Nolan, I thought I might be able to mod something (their comms to work with sena, or squeeze the sena into the Nolan helmet compartments) but I ended up just bolting the sena on the side.
I'd like the streamlined package of the Nolan comms, but that alone doesn't seem worth replacing our current family system (that we are very happy with)..... Unless someone can share how awesome the Nolan set-up is....

Did it work with your CB?

The intercom worked great but I didn't try the CB. I'll try the CB in a little while and will report back.

It was still raining but I tried the CB while in the garage. I want to say its working. I could hear traffic through the headset speakers and I could hear myself on the mike but I couldn't get anyone to respond. The channels were pretty quiet and I had to crank the squelch way down to hear anyone, maybe they couldn't hear me. Anyway, it appears to be working.

I use the BT kit and have been for many years. I currently have the 104 with the B4 kit installed. Works great for phone, streaming audio from phone and helmet to helmet communications.
