By no means would I try and talk someone out of a decision, but when it comes that time for me, I'm going to stay in the wind with a Vette and when it rains........put the top up  :coolblue:

This is an "insta-trike"....I have tons of friends with versions of this...while they "work" they are Apples and Hand grenades when it comes to the performance and price....but it is an option.  Having said that, would you put parts from J.C. Whitney on your Ferrari?

My wife had a 12' Harley trike and it is obviously different (switched to a two wheeler because she is too young to not be cool :), but it is still a Harley and it is still a motorcycle.  And one thing is for sure- it is damn comfortable.  Another plus is it is easier in the wind.  Couple of down sides- doesn't look as good (general perspective), doesn't get nearly as good gas milage (25-30 vs. 35-40 for a 2 wheel bagger).  I would not do the conversion- too expensive (depending on your situation of course).  There are an awful lot of used ones out there with very few miles on them (lady down the road from me is selling her husband's with on 30 miles on it).  The poor guy got sick and died just after riding it home from the dealer.

And I'm not sure where your intent is with this analogy.  Either would be a streatch if the analogy is meant for a Harley of any model. :P

The point was that a "bolt on" set of wheels is not a trike conversion.  There is a huge difference.  Most people who spend $30K on a CVO and are asking questions about "what is involved" in a conversation probably aren't looking at an instatrike.  It's not meant to be a slight.  If you have seen some of the "bolt on" instatrike kits that are available you'd understand the analogy.  I'm assuming the average CVO owner is looking for FORM and FUNCTION vs. just Function.  Hope that clears it up.

JCZ,
thanks for all the links to the "old stuff" on trikes from years ago.

Cost, we are still at $15,000.00 for Harleys with stock paint and CVO's painted to match are $16,500.

Also as to cost, we give you back all the take off parts, so if you sell the parts you will drop the total cost by .......$2000.00 to $4,000.00 after the sale of parts

we do sell the kit only and you convert (all a bolt on) you buy wheels and tires and have it painted.

Great kit and for the cost, you can't go wrong.

This photo compilation is of my wife converting her 2012 Sportster Superlow, I was there to torque everything down.

She started at 10am on a Friday morning and we were at dinner at 4pm that same afternoon.

Give them a call, they are very knowledgeable.

Hey Dean....it's been awhile...didn't know you were still here.  Thanks for bringing us up to speed...they are a bit more than I was thinking but the take off parts would help defer the net expense.

For the OP.....there's also Trikes By DJ out of Prescott Valley, Ariz.   http://www.trikesbydj.com/

When I went to Sturgis in 2006, I was amazed at how many trikes I saw. This year they are conducting their first annual trike ride:  Sturgis 2013. First Annual Trike Ride.

A trike keeps you in the biker scene.   On the other hand, I just finished a trip from Chicago to Los Angeles in a Corvette so I would not dismiss what 2k said above either.   Buzz and Todd Revisited - Corvette Road Trip - Chicago to Los Angeles.

Have a look at the LeHman conversion. I have a friend that had his Ultra done and it looks slick.
Price won't break the bank as well.
