It's a day after (scheduled) surgery for Roger... I just sent him a text (no reply yet) but if anybody has heard how he's doing please let us know.

Thanks Gary.  All is well here.

40 minute surgery and some recovery time, PT and OT today and discharged at 1:00.  Now recovering at our mountain house.

No walking weight restrictions and things seem to be going good.

I did get up and nearly fainted, so I won't be doing that again. Luckily I didn't screw anything up.  Thank goodness for the anterior method and now muscle cutting.

Roger good to hear all is going well (except the almost fainting episode :nervous:). Take it easy, take your meds (before needed), do your PT/OT, and before you know it you'll be feeling like a new man and (feeling like) doing things you haven't done in awhile because of the pain/discomfort in your old hip.

I know it's a drag being dependant on others for a while. Your leg might become swollen a little. This is normal. Just keep it elevated and follow all your instructions. You will be just fine. It just takes time to heal.........................You'll be out tooling around before ya know it...................Fuzz

Figured I would catch up on my recovery.  Into the home stretch after six weeks and only two to go.

I am really ready to go but need the final couple of weeks to allow the implant to fuse completely with the bone.

I actually went out Friday and hit some golf balls, actually played 9 holes with Cindy but did not hit any drives.  I would put my weight on the left side and put my right toe on the ground.  So i was avoiding loading the right leg and implant.

So all is well and looking forward to a good summer.  I intend to sit astride the bikes this week and see how it feels.  I know if I was to try earlier I'd only want to go for a ride.

I can't recommend enough the Anterior approach to total replacement. :2vrolijk_21:

Roger glad to hear things are going well for you... was wondering recently how you were progressing. Isn't it wonderfully amazing to no longer have that pain!!! :2vrolijk_21:

That along with climbing in and out of cars, climbing stairs and all the things we take for granted before things stop working as well as they should.

Glad to have it done and really wouldn't have done it much earlier, maybe six months if the timing had been better.

Also nice to be off the over the counter pain killers.
