Motorcycle seat cutomization
« on: May 10, 2013, 01:40:30 PM »

Has any one used these folks for any seat work? www.meancitycycles.com If so were you happy with the work? I just changed the seat from stock to a Harley SunRay Heated seat on my 2013 CVO Road King and I love the heat and larger passenger seating area but I was able to flat foot the ground while fully seated with the stock seat and cannot with the new seat.

I haven't used them but did have another vendor modify my seat and it didn't feel that good. I sold the seat. Getting the right seat is tough. I still haven't found one

I agree..they do nice work, but I also remember hearing they will not work on stock HD heated seats. They will, however, add heat to a non heated seat when they modify it. I had that done for my wife.

I sent them an E-Mail asking if they would work on my heated seat or not but they were already closed on Friday afternoon. Therefore it will be Monday at the earliest before I here back from them. If they will not do the customizing on my heated seat does anyone no of a reputable company that will? I don't need any exotic leather or graphics or anything. I just need to be a little lower.

Well I got in touch with mean city and ya'll were right, they will not work on factory heated seats :-\ I hope to ride to the rally in Gulfport, MS Memorial day weekend and hope to find a vendor there that can help me out. I also spoke with my Harley dealer and he told me about an upholstrey shop in Lafayette, LA that does some foam reshaping work. I called that shop and they do the reshaping but do not do any memory foam work or anything like that. However, he said a heated seat is no problem and the reshaping starts at about $75.00.

I wound up bringing the bike to Romero's upholstery in Scott, LA, and he did a great job. He pretty much dished out the foam where my thighs rest on the seat and it made all of the difference in the world. I can reach the ground with no problem now. On the 2 hour ride back home the seat was even more comfortable riding down the road than before. He did this while I waited and even did it a little at the time with me sitting on it at different stages for a true custom fit, and all for only $80.00.

Sorry Bucknut. I am currently offshore in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico at work. When I get home in a little over a week I will post some pictures.
