Squeekie noise occationally
« on: June 13, 2013, 09:08:40 AM »

I have a 2002 HD Ultra Classic with 47600 miles on it, in fine condition, except for one thing. From time to time, not always, I get a squeak noise while riding down the road. It is hard to figure out where it is coming from and only happens from time to time. Several HD mechanics have worked on it and all seem to think they have fix it, however the noise comes back. I thought it was the heat shield on the exhaust system and moved each one around thinking maybe they were rubbing together. But the noise comes back. One mechanic thought it was the loose rubber mount on the mufflers. It still came back. While going down the road I can pull the clutch and the noise is still there. It will do it when hot and it will do it when cool. Any Ideas?????????

Did you try spraying silicone on the muffs rubbers where they are secured?  I always have to do that and now the new engine isolation rubbers.

You already covered the heat shields, always a good place to start.  The horn sometimes will squeek.

lifters can cause a "squeaky" noise too - and a loose belt of course  ;)

That works for me too. The front engine mount rubber make the most noise on my bike.
