Best communication system for a group ride?
« on: June 18, 2013, 09:01:07 PM »

Ten of us are riding from Detroit to Los Angeles and we want to be able to talk to each other.

We heard the Senna was great, but you can only talk to one person at a time.

Dealer says Chatterbox is the hot system.  Any feedback?

We have the Interphone and it works with multiple people.  Very user friendly. Had the Chatterbox years ago and found the transmitter to heavy hanging off my helmet but I'm sure they have made changes.  Look on YouTube at the Interphone F5.

The sena allows more than just 1-to-1 intercoms, but I don't think it is capable for "tens" of riders to all be connected together at once.  You could try a sort of daisy chain set up (you can talk with three people, one of those riders can talk with three other people, and so on), but I'm not that would work well.
I dont have experience with my sena in a large group ride, Just a three-way conference call on the sena bluetooth intercom system (daughter, husband, and I all having one big conversation.)

I would revisit that idea, 10 people talking at once or sometimes would be hard to figure out what they are saying.  Sena can do 4, I have done three on my Sena and it was OK.  If you are going to that I would look at some sort of CB or FM radio.  I also use CB with the group riding and it works very well.

Has anyone looked at J&M Corp's JMCB-2003? It'a a handlebar mounted CB.
We have a few people that ride with our chapter, that use a portable CB with
an ear plug to listen to others in the group that have CB's.

We were told that you can talk to on person at a time and you press the button to switch to another person.  If that is not the case, then the Sena may be our best bet.  The Chatterbox is too big!  IMHO
