V&H high output or 4" reinharts
« on: June 19, 2013, 11:47:29 AM »

Probably an old topic but... I have a 2013 110 CVO RG- stock exhaust just too mellow.  For the header pipes I've decided to go with the Fullsac DX pipe.  For slip-ons, I had decided on the HOs, but per Steve at Fullsac the baffles on these pipes (2.5") are just too big resulting in significant  torque loss at low end, tuning issues, etc... I'm also concerned re the HOs being too loud for long distance rides.

The alternative option would be the 4" reinharts.   Any thoughts from riders?  Thanks.

Rinehart with a 2.0 core will work well with the DX. Basically the same as your stock muffler with a 2.0. Not sure if the Rineharts come with any packing or not?
The old 3.5" had none.

Steve, Reinhart 4" come with 2.25 baffles, no packing.  Same opinion re HOs with 110 CVO?

The Rinehart 2.25 core is not even close to the HO fortunately, and very similar to my 2.25. Not too far back they were even made by the
same company before we took it in house. After dynoing a dozen or more bikes now with the DX, the trend is slightly earlier TQ with the 2.0 over
the 2.25. Deal breaker if you run the 2.25s? Absolutely not. If you want that more aggressive sound, the 2.25  is the way to go. The slight difference
in bottom can be seen on the dyno, but most people would never notice while riding.

Steve, are there any significant differences between your new DX head pipe design vs the V&H power dual design that would make either pipe a better performer or produce a deeper sound quality, given the same mufflers?

Steve, I just installed a Patriot Defender 2 into 1 exhaust on my 2002 CVO FXDWG3. I am very happy with this exhaust. ;D This exhaust you can tune yourself for how stock sound you want up to loud. You can tune this pipe for the best performance. Go to the Patriot Defender website and look at the pipe. Good Luck.

I have never done a back to back dyno test and honestly never had the V+H headpipe on my dyno. I could speculate on the lame looking collector
design but I have learned not too after laughing at the stock headpipe and then seeing how well it works after just removing the cat. The muffler choice
and compatability of all the parts will make or break the final outcome regardless. Lets not forget tuning also.

The V&H PowerDual headpipe with the right mufflers and tune will support a engine putting out 140/140. With that said, I like the look of my V&H pipe and I also love the mellow tone I have cruising with my Fullsac 2.25 Baffles in the CVO muffler cans. I feel I got the best of both worlds with my 124" in my trike

Funny, I got beat up in another thread cause I said the stock 09 head pipe because I commented that it made more power with out the cat, I even saw it on the dyno.  It was your suggestion to cut it in half and remove the cat, vice drill it out that lead me to do that.  And since to buy several of your head pipes for my wifes last two bikes and my last Bike, the new D pipe
