Fairing Oil Temp Gauge...
« on: October 15, 2006, 01:41:08 PM »

Heads up on this unit...

1) Because the oil lines aren't in the same place on the 07's as they were on the TC88's and the Oil cooler is installed on the CUSE2's, the kit calls for a "t" tap installation on your outer oil cooler line near the bottom.

I guess you don't need to really see the temp until it's potentially a problem, but geez, you would think you should get a

The above thread covers a lot of ground on the "faring oil temp gauge".

Might be worth a read, many of us went with the install in the pan.

There is a thread concerning the mounting of this gauges and the modification that was done to the install (on the 103 motors) and I believe w/this installation the gauge works at all times. Wonder if the new motor (110ci) has anything to do w/the new install? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Gauge being spelled the way it was made it hard to find on initial search. [smiley=oops.gif] Then I had to find where in the thread they were talking about the modification on the install.

Scott,

The original guage should have been returned to you and should have the chrome cover that matches all the others still on it. You can either strip that one off and glue it back over your oil temp guage or buy a new one that comes with the sticky stuff to install it with. I think they may come in packs of two.

I was supposed to have one installed on mine same as yours but the dealer was not aware of the kit that goes with it for the 07's so they said they would have it and do it on the 1000 mile service. I must say that i am glad it did not happen now as i can learn from this post as what I should do about it. Thanks for posting this.

Rob

It looks like the bezel is glued on and I'm sure I'll destroy something if I try to take it off.  I thought about the chrome covers and had one left over from my '05 and it doesn't fit.

Gary,

The '07 engines don't have the external oil lines like our earlier models; one of the changes for '07 was to make the lines internal between the crankcase and the trans case / oil tank.
