Which 124?
« on: July 22, 2013, 01:26:38 PM »

Looks like I'll be buying a new 124 crate motor for the 09 road Glide. Question is which on. From what I understand there are 2 versions. one at 10.2 with a 585 cam and one at 10.8 with a 640 cam. I'm undecided at this time if I will use the procharger or not. I'm a little concerned that the 10.8 with the 640 might be to much compression for the procharger even at 8lbs or less of boost. But might be the best choice if I decide not to use the blower. So do I buy the lower compression engine with the 585 cam and put the blower on it or the higher compression engine. What about buying one of the motors and changing the cam. Man what a pain. I really liked the old 124 and the way it sounded with the t662-2 but not much torque at 3000 with the blower.

Get ahold of Walt Sipp, Product Manager, @ Procharger.
He'll tell you where to set it. :2vrolijk_21:
When we've been in contact with him, 9.5 cr is where he wanted us to sign off at.

Last large build with procharger it was 10.5 and ran on 91 octane fuel in AZ and was at 15 PSI boost .. 220+ hp as well.. Static is not where the real attention needs to be focused. You are not building a engine but buying a crate, look at the boost corrected compression. Countless engines in the  9.8-10.1 engines ( 103 stock) , and the 120 Jims engines with 8 lbs of boost and then some. ( Look at FBI they bolt these things on higher compression engines on a very regular basis and they all work fine.

 Sounds like a fun project.
