2013 cvo roadking motor upgrade
« on: February 04, 2014, 08:58:50 PM »

Wanting to get more hp/tq. have done the 4 inch reinhart slipon, fuel moto ceramic x pipe and power commander 5.. was thinking about the se hd 110 upgrade pistons and cam..
Would there be much difference and worth the extra $2100.00??? or would I be better off going with a tman 625 cam ??

The only way I would consider Harley parts is if it was a warranty issue where the dealer offers to cover the upgrades under warranty if all Harley stuff is used. I did that with the last bike, but there are much better options in the aftermarket. If you search around on here many have been happy with a stage two going to a different cam and raising compression. I will be going with Fulsac's stage 2 kit soon, a well thought out combo that has proven itself many times. Good luck and hold on tight to your wallet!

tts or se tuner ( better suited for where you are going to ) but you could get by with that tuner

Slight cut on the heads, .030 head gasket mild clean up swap the springs and add the t/b + cam  the 120/120 is there and would fall under your budget.

I wish they had one location for dyno sheets.  But they dont so I will repost this sheet.

This is a basic build and does not have to be done with these parts . I am showing how we would do that upgrade with that budget.

Mild clean up of heads new valve springs , light machine on deck stock pistons , stock inj  SE 58 t/b  Genesis 577 cam . The heads where 92 cc when we pulled them with a light cut and a .030 it was right at 10.4 and change.
Not all will be at that point but Its not going to make that huge of a change in power if you end up at 10.3 either. Or add the pop up piston with bore and hone.

The t/b is not going to offer much seat of the pants gains other than HP. The tq curve will broaden up some. Our back to back testing has shown 1-3 gain in tq however hp gain will be 8-10 on avg.

The bottom sheet is a dealer installed high comp piston kit stock t/b and our cam. Looking at the two you can see there are some slight gains in the tq but really if you are not looking for big gains above say 4200 RPM then the t/b may be something you can do without.  These sheets show you our kits on our dyno . Gives you a basic idea from a tuned 255 engine to adding only compression and cam to another with larger t/b.   Hope that gives you a step by step in what you can see again on AVG. Good luck  :2vrolijk_21:

Head work $1000 pistons and re bore easy $600 ( SE flat tops )  Cams and lifters $700 easy ( S&S cams and lifters ) Labor $1000 and $400 for the tune. And if you tack on the TB with injectors $1000 easy.  So you have to decide what you spend the $2500 on. As you will go through that in a jiffy. Also, will have to check the crank run out. And if that's way out that is where your $$ will go.
