Dang, guess I missed my chance. Was going to purchase Arnott's air compressor as it is much faster up and down than the Legends that take forever to pump up.

Arnott uses two different shocks, the Bilsteins and Aldans. Mine are the Aldans--but maybe they're both built the same way. Mine has external can covers so you don't see the air bags.

Legends are not simply air dampers.  They use hydraulic fluid internally and external air assist as you described.  I know this first hand because after several years one of my Legends sprung a leak and I had a puddle of oil on my muffler and under the bike.  And when I contacted them they confirmed the construction of the shock.  They replaced the defective shock at no charge.
Are you sure the oil that leaked wasn't just a bit of lube oil for the shaft?

Well it was quite a bit oil if it was just to lube the shaft - made a pretty good puddle.  And Legend told me the shocks had oil for dampening and rebound.  That's all I know.
