2014 Model Designations

CVO Ultra Classic, CVO Limited, Ultra Classic, Ultra Classic Limited...  It makes you dizzy, and I know that there is no answer to this question, but...

In the non-CVO world, the UC Limited is just an UC with a few upgrades.  In the CVO world, the CVO Ultra has been an UC with lots of upgrades.  So, what is the logic of making the latest iteration a new model (FLHTKSE) instead of the latest version of the CVO Ultra (i.e. FLHTCUSE9)?  I would understand the distinction if there was also going to be a CVO Ultra - as a way of distinguishing the two.  Perhaps the "twin-cooled" engine made the CVO a new model, although such was not the case with the non-CVO Ultra Limited!  I would guess that this is the end of the line for the CVO Ultra, and the beginning of a new era for their high end touring line.  It would be illogical (and less profitable) to go backwards and make the top-of-the-line tourer a lesser bike.

Or maybe I am making too much of it. ;D

Good question. Makes me wonder when the next SERGU comes out with the wet heads if it will have a new designation. That would make mine a one year bike.

look at the differences between a production Ultra classic and Ultra limited.

the limited gets the better infotainment system and the "wet" heads as does the CVO

I am sure hoping for a SERG for 15, if not then my second choice would be SERGU for 15.  Want the new head unit, and bags.

Thanks for bringing that up.  I too wonder what happened to the numerical order they were following?  Perhaps your right a new era?  If someone knows please chime in.  Or is it limited to 2014 and then the numerical order resumes because this is an anniversary year?

The Breakout (2013 FXSBSE/2014 FXSBSE2) and the Road King (2002 FLHRSEI/2003 FLHRSEI2/2007 FLHRSE3/2008 FLHRSE4/2013 FLHRSE5/2014 FLHRSE6) have numerical sequences in their designation.  Deluxe and Limited are first year runs and I would imagine if they repeat they will have sequential numbers. :nixweiss:

We already have a 1 yr bike.  If they ever do make another it will have different fairing, bags, tour-pac. A completely different look. Be nice to have one of each.  :bulb2: I better start saving.
