Route 58 & Route 16. SW Va.
« on: September 16, 2013, 08:16:23 PM »

Rode the SERG to visit my parents in Southwest VA this past weekend and my Dad and I took a nice ride Saturday on some of his favorites roads in the area.  If any of you guys enjoy the Dragon or those types of roads then I highly recommend, actually I would consider it a must to put these two roads on your bucket list.  Route 58 across the Grayson Highlands State Park in to Damascus is incredible for scenery and switchbacks.  Route 16 from Marion to Tazewell is absolutely off the charts and at one point, I told my Dad, all I could do was just laugh as it was turn after turn after turn.

My Dad is 72 and has a super nice 2003 Anniversary Ultra and the SERG was on the floorboards often as I kept up with him. Truly and awesome day to share with my Dad on what has to be some of the best riding in the State of Va. Now I need new floor pans for the SERG!

So it's almost Fall of the year and the leaves will be turning soon so if you're in the area and take my advice, you will not be disappointed.  Put it on your list!

Yep, those are great roads.  It's almost difficult to find a bad road down in that area.   :2vrolijk_21:

I'm in that area some and appreciate the road review.  I'll have to add them to my "list" too!   :2vrolijk_21:

Heck these two are in our backyard. I remember once riding a poker run over 16 while there were a couple hundred bicyclists competing in some race. Made for an interesting trip.

Anytime anyone is in the area PM me and maybe some of the HBRR riders can meet up with you.
