CVO Limited suspension
« on: September 15, 2013, 10:35:29 AM »

My CVO limited is being manufactured next week so I should have it in a few weeks and like to get going on some improvements as soon as I get it delivered.

I read that the front suspension is "improved" but its my understanding that the rear is still the old air shocks?

I like the Ohlin shocks and plan to get a set on order but wanted to hear what recommendations the forum might have first?

Rear is the same old garbage, the front is light years better than the pre-13 bikes.

I'm running 13" JRI "B" shocks on my Ultra and I'm very pleased with them.  They've got a bit more stroke than the Ohlins I had on my Limited (92mm vs. 77mm), which means they ride that much better.  They're also American-made if that's important to you.

I still like my Suspension Technologies USA shocks!    2vrolijk_21

They can be custom built for your weight and riding style.....

Anyone tried the Harley premium hand adjustable shocks, are they any good?  Cheap, only $500.00 compared to $1K + Ohlin

It all depends on what you are comparing them to.  Are they better than the gigantic pieces of chit that some on the Ultra's...it wouldn't take much to be better than those.  But compared to a shock that is actually GOOD, IMO, spending $500 on ANY HD suspension component is a waste of money.

Came stock on my 12 CVO SG much better then the junk air shocks on my 09 however, I find them too harsh completely turned down to the lowest setting. I only weigh 160 pounds. When I add my wife and some luggage they are great. She weighs a whopping 117 lol.

Went ahead and ordered the Ohlin shocks.  Asked for yellow springs since that's the original Öhlin trademark.

Now waiting to get the shocks and the motor sometimes in October.  :bananarock:

I have the Ohlins 159's and recently changed out the springs from a 360 to a 280, as I couldn't get them to ride smooth enough where it counted (rough roads), since I have a bad back.

The first thing I noticed with the Ohlins is the improved stablility & control in the back of the bike and that just amplified the spongyness of the poorer front end on the pre-14 Harley Ultras.  You should have a much improved ride all around with your set up.

I plan to put the Ohlin cartridge in the front when it comes out.  Let us know how it goes! :2vrolijk_21:

Give Works Socks a check. The Black Billet Trackers are awesome. DRS, hand adjustable preload for extra weight of a passenger. They are custom made just for your weight and riding style. Works also makes front end cartridges.   Top end stuff here.

Have the Progressive Monotubes up front and the Bitubos in the rear, bike handles great for the last 3 years. Bike 2010 CVO Ultra.
