I have forgotten to put the kickstand up once or twice... maybe more... but thankfully I have never laid it down because of that!

early 80s I was a wheelie king on a kz 1000 and at a party[buzzed up pretty good] after a trophy run up and down the street in a 85 mph wheelie I parked it sliding to a stop stand down befor it stopped feet never coming off the pegs and sat there on my bike like the show off bullchitting punk I was, well in 5 mins it was time to go and I rode off of a curb [on purpose] but with the stand down. wham happened fast , my friends and I still giggle over that one. :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

Wellllll, I was down in Daytona at the Hampton Inn in Southern Shores. We pulled in the parking lot, which was sloped down toward the beach. I pulled in with the jiffy stand on the down hill side and flipped the stand down. Problem is it didn't catch, sooo as I stepped off the bike and turned away my bike and six or eight others fell over.                       Major mess up! One of the bikes that went over in that heap belonged to Dave Despain of the Speed Channel. :-[
Hey Hogasm remember that day?

I did it at a dealership taking a bike for a test ride. It was a BMW R1150 GS, fortunately they are equipped with a switch that will kill the engine if you let out the clutch in gear while the stand is down. Killed the engine twice before the dealer pointed it out to me. I felt stupid and I'm sure I didn't inspire much confidence in him either.  :-[
