Heat Deflectors & Lower Vent Door Removal on '13 CVORK
« on: September 08, 2013, 08:06:00 PM »

I just added a set of mid-frame heat deflectors to our CVORK.  Installation was actually very easy; I was quite surprised and wonder why they weren’t added as original equipment on the CVO bikes with the 110″ motors.

I went with the Kuryakyn smoked chrome saddle shields and they have helped with the heat also.

Although not a cheap fix, I installed a thundermax tuner and Rush ceramic headers thursday. Rode about 400 miles since and the decrease in heat is major. (Boost in power also)

I also removed the adjustable vents in my lowers. I can definitely tell there is more air flowing through when moving; doesn't make a bit of difference when sitting in traffic though. My SEUC came with the mid frame deflectors and I installed them on my previous bike. I have mixed thoughts about those things. While they may deflect some of the heat off your legs, they also trap more heat around the rear cylinder. Even with the mods I've done, Fullsac DX, 2" cores, TTS, etc., the 110 is still a wicked hot beast. I can still feel heat on my right leg even while cruising, albeit much less than when bone stock. Can't wait for cooler weather.

By the way FXD, I've been following your blog. Too bad about the problems at the dealer, I have had several similar incidents, especially with the dealership where you bought your bike. I only ever go there to buy parts when they have a discount day, never for service anymore.

My less than ideal service visit was at a previously pretty well-trusted, local HD shop.  However, I've since come to realize that all of the folks who I used to deal with in service from the front desk to the backshop have turned-over. Should have checked into that instead of assuming too much and handing over the CVORK's FOB for that overpriced 1,000k initial service.

It can happen anywhere. I just had some service done at ESHD and had to go back and correct some of their oversights. Had my bars changed so the outer fairing had to come off. When they put it back on some wires were hanging out and gaskets pinched. Its hard to understand how things like that happen and go unnoticed.

Good luck with the heat deflectors, you'll need all the help you can get in the PCB traffic!
