I need a fuel controller,  what is the best piggy back unit to go with?  there was an old serial PCIII on it and it was all wacked out.  never ran worth a crap.  pulled it off and its much better,  but needs more fuel...

On the older models I would not hesitate to go with a THUNDER MAX!!!! There are other options but most now use the O2 sensors.

This is a Marelli bike Mike.  So it's not the simple bolt on TMax ECM.  Zippers makes a TMax conversion for the Marelli bikes but it's much more expensive and a much more involved installation that involves a little wiring change, fuel lines alteration and different retrofit throttle body.  It can be done with or without o2 sensors so adding bungs to the pipes is optional.

"Plug in" is something of a misnomer.  You've seen how the Power Commander plugs in between the existing harness and the ECM.  At least in my opinion it (Power Commander) and the TTS package are the only worthwhile add-on/plug-in options for a Marelli bike.

There are more simplistic and far less capable devices like the Cobra you mentioned.  But their abilities are limited.  I'd not use them.

The TTS isn't what you'd describe as a "plug in" either.  Instead it's software in a PC that connects to the bike using a communications dongle.  The dongle won't stay on the bike.  It just allows communications between the PC and the bike while the tuning effort is going on.  The dongle then stores safely away until such time as it's needed again.

A question for you to consider.  Are you planning on trying to dial the bike's tune in yourself?  If so you'll need to decide between TTS and Power Commander for the Marelli bike.  If not, however, you really don't care.  What you need to be worried about if you're not dialing in the tune yourself is who within whatever range you're comfortable with is a known to be competent tuner.  Find that guy then use whichever tuning device he is best with.

Im pretty competent with computers and tuning engines.  just new to harleys.  I have a fully built ski doo snowmobile that has porting etc,  and I did all the clutch and carb tuning myself.  so I know how it all works.  same goes for import and domestic cars.

The Magneti Marelli bikes had a few quirks of their own.  So enjoy gaining the familiarity on a new system :drink: :2vrolijk_21: .

The damn things are so old anymore we just don't think about them Mike.  Kinda sad that some really cool bikes are far enough behind the curve anymore that they can so easily fade from regular recollection.

Yep.  the PCIII will be ordered from fuel moto this week with a preloaded map thats close to what I need.  I was talking to them yesterday and they're confident that my bike will be much much better with their mapping in it.
