Hey NorCal, SoCal, or anywhere in Cal.
« on: November 26, 2013, 10:51:24 AM »

I'm looking for a good lake to go fishing in August. Somewhere with a nice cabin to rent, maybe a dock where I can rent a canoe or small boat. I'd like some place cool, and not unbearably hot in August.

Thanks!

Hey Mark,

The Mammoth Lakes area at least a dozen Lakes which have great fishing and the area is not too hot in August.  Some of the coolest cabins you will never find can be found at the Tamarack Lodge which faces Lake Mary and Twin Lakes.  There is a gourmet restaurant at the lodge but plenty of casual places in Mammoth Lakes

Fallen Leaf Lake...maybe 20 min to half hour from South Lake Tahoe but much more off the beaten path....more serene.  They have canoe or kayak rentals (not sure about motorized) and cabins for rent....  http://www.fallenleafrentals.com/
