Compression mild or not.
« on: January 13, 2014, 04:25:44 PM »

Is going to 10.1 or 10.25 static compression on a 110" considered a mild bump or a big adjustment? FWIW, corrected compression would be 9.36 or 9.44. Thanks

Depends on the cam timing.  It would be a major bump if you were running the stock 255 cams, and would create a ping monster.  It would be on the low end of acceptable if you installed a cam with a later intake close and some overlap.  Static compression tells only one small part of the story.

It is almost a full point up, but not too far in my opinion, depending of course on the cam choice.

Thanks, the cam is why I am asking. I've been told it works best with around 10.25 compression. I don't want to change the compression too much and may have to change my cam choice. @ 10.16 static the corrected compression is 9.36 and CCP is 188 and @10.25 the corrected is 9.44 CCP 191

No worries at that compression, as an OE 110"/255 cam-equipped engine, hovers at 205-207 ccp straight off the showroom floor.

.

I have checked them right at that same number. Amazing they don't ping worse than they do.  :nixweiss:

Scott,
Do you thing the 9.35 or 9.44 corrected will ping using 91 octane?
SG,
Are you talking about the 255's pinging?
Thanks
