blown 40 amp maxi fuse
« on: April 26, 2014, 07:34:29 PM »

Anyone have any suggestions to a blown 40 ampere maxi fuse??? Engine rolled over once then died. Checked the battery, 12.75 static, then ignition turned to run position, voltage dropped to 4.6v. No radio no lights. Turned the master switch to accessory, voltage returned to 12.6, radio turns on. I attempted to jump start the bike, 08 FLHTCUSE3 but the maxi fuse blew. Bike is dead just as Laughlin is starting!!!

From your original post I'd also have been concerned about starter and/or starter solenoid problems.  Did you find any issues there?

not so far.... Seems that I more than likely had a internally shorted battery, when I attempted to jump start the bike, I took out a 1 week old voltage regulator which was the cause of the blown maxi fuse.  2 Voltage regulators, a stator , battery and a couple of maxi fuses.... so far seems to be repaired.
