Heavy Breather
« on: April 07, 2014, 01:31:08 PM »

Question - I put an HD Heavy Breather on my RK and I am having trouble with the chrome trim ring that covers the clamp.  The kit includes double stick tape that is supposed to "stick" the ring to the back of the air cleaner.  I have tried several times but the chrome ring (tape) will not stick to the back of the air cleaner.  Cleaned it several times to get any residual oil off but the ring will not stay in place.  Anyone else have this problem - and if so, how do you get it to stay.

Thanks.

I threw the tape away and used a few dabs of orange RTV silicone to hold mine on.

I clean the rubber on the air filter with acetone and the tap sticks well.....use anything to get rid of the gloss on the rubber. On stubborn cases a little sand paper in the air filter rubber will allow the tape to adhere.
