SE Ultra Radio questions
« on: November 27, 2006, 11:31:42 AM »

Hello
I got a question for you all.
If I read it right the SE Ultra's come with the "Enhanced Sound System" with
the 70 watt amp. Well I am in the process of selling my 1998 FLHTC which I
had added the rear speaker pods WITH the 40 watt amp (put on back in 1998).
I have also replaced all 4 speakers with the Hogtune speakers. This system sounds
FANTASIC (I love my misic LOUD). Since I cannot afford a SE ULTRA I am buying a
2007 Black Cherry/Pewter Ultra. I was thinking of buying a Hogtune set-up of a
40 watt amp for the front 2 speakers and 4 new Hogtune speakers. I was looking
through the Parts & Access. Catalog and saw the Harley "Enhanced Sound System"
can be had for the same price and the Harley is an 70 watt system.
My question is how do you like yours and how do they sound with the tunes cranked
up say 3/4 loud ?
Rob .....

If you are making a change the concensus seems to be Hawg-wired and Hog-tunes.

This was covered in a few threads, here some are to keep you busy:

I like the setup that came with my 2006 SEUC just fine. All the power I need and great clarity.  I've also heard good things from others here that love their Hog tunes. Suggest you try to listen to both before you buy (if you can). I don't think you can go wrong with either.

robc,
We've got an 06 and an 07 CUSE.  Both only have fair sound production.  I'm considering speaker upgrades for both to start.  My previous 01 ultra had terrible output, UNTIL I added the moco enhanced system.  Woke it up- no, made it like it should have been from the factory.  It's 100 times better than most stock systems- though the wife's old 01 SERG was pretty close to the enhanced system and only had 2 stock speakers.  I'd wait to see what you think of your new one once you hear it, then decide on choices.  If you ever plan on taking off the tourpak and riding w/o it, consider the HAWG wired system that fits inside the front fairing.  There's nothing to mount under the tourpak that way.  Even if you decide the enhanced system is the way to go, I knew 1 person who blew those speakers; though I never did after 30k miles.  I definitely tried. 8-)  I like thumpin the youngsters!  It did well at 3/4, but essentailly just as good at 7/8! Hogtunes also has the amp in the front fairing mounted on radio.
Ya I would like to do the detachable stuff so I can be like my wife
on her 07 Street Glide.
I have the Hogtunes front speakers on her bike and
it sounds 100 times better than stock ! I'll have to
question Pez some more on his set-up.
Thanks ...

robc;

You may want to PM Geezerglide, he just finished installing Pez's kit in his RG. I've got it sitting in a box in the garage, haven't had time to install it yet.
