CVO A&S clutch
« on: May 20, 2014, 01:06:47 PM »

You guys and gals with a 2013 and up CVO have any input on the A&S clutch?
Wondering how much power it will take in stock form.
Are there any fixes if it does start to slip?

My plan is to bump the HP. and TQ. of my new CVO RK in the 110-115 hp.
And 120 tq. range.

I see that AIM makes a lock up hat assembly for it. Band aid maybe.

There's a picture of my A&S clutch with 4,400 miles on it in this thread http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=93045.0 . It was pretty discolored and I hadn't been hard on it at all. My bike was only making 84HP-104TQ. I seriously doubt it'll hold up with the power you're looking at.

I had GMR build my motor and we went with a Bandit clutch. I'm now at 119 HP and 127 TQ. I've only had the bike back for a couple weeks and between work and the weather I've not rode it much (3 times, about 150 miles) but so far I'm very happy with the feel and performance of this clutch, and the bike.

Thanks for the input Joe.
So Bandit makes a Sportsman set up for the HYD clutch?

I've got one in my 124 RG and love it.

You're welcome Mike. Bandit definitely has a Sportsman hydraulic version clutch set up. I can't give you details about the install because Steve @ GMR did the work but I can tell you this clutch doesn't slip!!  :2vrolijk_21: A little too much throttle in 1st or 2nd and the front tire leaves the pavement.  8)

FWIW, I'm using a Barnett Kevlar +1 and have no issues with slip.  Great feel too.

Yes sir! GMR exceeded my expectations by a mile!! Steve and Michelle are terrific people to know and work with! My bike is awesome, I can't believe a big ole bagger can move like this. I went for my first decent ride Sunday with some friends and I was accused of running nitrous.  :nixweiss: A couple of friends with stock CVO's couldn't figure out how in the heck I was accelerating so quickly, and I wasn't really trying, just playing around getting a feel for the new power.  ;D I still haven't let it loose yet!

Joe did not know his clutch was slipping either but it was and burnt the crap out of the plates. They have to be junk for the avg guy to feel there is a problem.. Just sayin seat of the pants feel for a slipping clutch is more pucker factor as at that point is too late.

I have tried the + kits and heavy red springs.. It still slips .. I am working on something will see how it ends up working.

The Bandit is dead simple and installation isn't difficult.
Thinking I'll bite the bullet after the exhaust has been addressed.

I need a second job. ::)

It seems to me that it's a given that CVO owners are going to "fix up" their rides. At least with all the great info on this site you can make intelligent decisions! Beats the heck out of trial and error modding.

So...... Can this POS A&S clutch be converted back to the standard hydraulic clutch? I would like to do the +1, spring and Clutch Wiz but can't with this pos.
