2014 Shocks (New style---Pre load)
« on: May 16, 2014, 09:28:39 AM »

 :confused5:
Planting my wifes azz on the S.G. Special today for the first time since I got it.  Our combined weight it a little shy of 300 pounds.

The instructions talk about 6 turns from (minimum preload) to get to about my target weight set.  However if you read the setting for someone that was fairly heavy and their spouse/girlfriend also fairly heavy,  the instructions say to go to 19 turns.

Haven't tried to take it that far,  but doesn't look to me like it would get thru 19 turns before being "maxed" out.  The Service Manual says that there is a "click" for every half turn.   (And there is).

Now I wondering if the chart really means "clicks"  and I need only six clicks or do I really want 6 full turns which would obviously be about 12 "clicks". :nixweiss:

Anybody already experimented with adjusting these new type shocks. :-\

I have the HD premium shocks on my 11.5 CUSE and our combined weight is about the same. I crank them up @ 17 clicks when riding 2 up, then back them off about 4 - to about 13 total when solo and then boost them up to 19 or 20 when fully loaded for a road trip.  Hope this helps.
