engine shuts off turning a corner.
« on: June 16, 2014, 10:59:17 PM »

Engine cuts off in corners. Or while turning a corner from a stop light. My question is can a lean exceed the automatic engine cut off feature built into the bike?  (2011 CVO Road glide ultra)  My friend also has the same problem with his Road king.

I have seen on more than one occasion a wire broken in the main harness that would kill a bike when moving the front end side to side. See if you can make it shut off while sitting still slowly moving the bars back and forth..

While theoretically possible, it is highly unlikely you are exceeding the lean angle limit unless your sensor is screwed up.  Not many folks I know can lean a Harley that far unless it's lying on the crash bars.  The much more likely scenario is as hd-dude mentioned, a wiring problem that cuts power when you turn the front end.  Try what he said, and also just wiggling the wires with the engine running to see if you can induce a stumble or stall.  Don't ignore the problem, as it's a safety issue that could get you killed if this stall occurs when pulling out into traffic.

The bank angle sensor can be at fault. had one last year year that we thought was a tuning issue. Turned out the BAS was defective .. I would check the basic stuff first .
