2013 CVO RK, Ipod?
« on: June 02, 2014, 03:12:51 PM »

Bike is new to me. The ipod is missing. Can I just buy a new nano 7th gen or do I need the HD ipod? What is the headphone jack for next to the ipod plug. Thanks in advance

Any ipod with the 30 pin connector should work.I have tried a couple of buddies and they all work except the latest lightning connectors, and supposedly they make an adaptor for that. If I remember correctly the headphone jack is for other music devices because the roadking doesn't have a head unit. The extra jack is not included on my roadglide. There was a thread recently linking to an ebay sale where the guy wanted $1000.00 for his CVO ipod. The CVO logo is so small you need glasses to see it! :o

That is a shame, for what it cost, the previous owner should have given it to you... Did you ask for it?

But yes, any ipod with that connector will work.

Congratulations on your new bike  :2vrolijk_21:

I hooked up an older ipod touch and tried both the 30 pin connector and headphone jack for input. Not working. No sound but the ipod was playing. Owners manual is ordered but in the meantime is there some trick to getting the amp to fire up? Thanks and sorry for the dumbars questions.

With the ipod plugged into the "headphone" jack in the front of the HK you have select AUX on the headunits menu for the radio to recognize the input from the ipod. You won't be able to change songs or playlists from the bar controls with it hooked up that way - the volume control on the bars will work but first turn the ipod's volume all the way up. Not sure why the 30 pin is not working though

I am pretty sure the RK doesn't have an actual head unit, as in radio. Just the ipod and amps with speakers? At least that is what I remember when I looked at them a year ago. Of course my memory is about as long as..... ::)
