I need help! I am riding to Sturgis Friday and bike has a problem with starting after 30 minute ride.
I have a 2007 CVO Ultra Classic with Master Tuner and D&D Fat Cat exhaust. Bike runs great but when I stop to put gas in after a 30 minute ride in 95+ degree weather it does not want to start. The motor turns over great but does not fire. I have replaced the crank trigger, fuel pump and filter. Last trip out I carried an extra spark plug so I could pull a spark plug wire and verify fire, it does have fire. So, the problem must be fuel. I can always hear the fuel pump running, and if I cycle the ignition switch and immediately hit the starter it may start. This is weird, but when I switch the ignition on and hear a little FART sound in the tank I know it will not start. SO, I go into the ignition switch cycle routine. What about about fuel pressure regulator housing or the tank check valve maybe?  :(

What is happening is as you are pupping gas the manifold is getting heat soaked from all the heat coming off the engine trapped under the gas tank. When you hit the trigger the fuel dissipates when it hits the hot manifold therefore the gas isn't getting into the cylinder. The fix is adding about 15 to 20% to the cranking fuel with your Master Tune.

Thought you were going to try that from your last thread, did you just ignore the problem?

Like I said, I replaced the fuel pump and filter to solve the problem. Like I did not say, I messed with the startup fuel and it
still had the problem. So I am going to try it again. Thanks for the help dude

Not familiar with mastertune, but on my sert it has different temps to adjust, if you have that try all the temps that are in the upper starting temps, dont be afraid to go a lot higher,
you can always turn it back down, but like doc said add at least 15 to 20%, maybe more if that dont work, good luck. Also when this happens and it does start if you have to much cranking fuel you will see a puff of black smoke out of the pipe, add till you see that then back off a little from there.

Thanks chicoman, sounds like good advice. I will be trying that, :2vrolijk_21: I have about run out of parts to replace.
