Andrews 54h cams
« on: August 02, 2014, 04:29:32 PM »

just bought a 2011 Ultra limited 103 and looking to change cams this winter to beef it up. I traded in my Deuce and am missing that acceleration I had so im looking at the Andrews 54s unless someone else has a better suggestion.   I usually stay below 5000 rpm on highway and do tow a trailer so I want a lower rpm torque cam.  What I need to know is if I have heads done, will I have clearance problems with valve to piston?  The heads will be slightly milled and .030 head gaskets to get to 10-1 compression.

You already have one of the best Low RPM camshafts there is in the bike. So you have to look at what you want to get out of it in terms of performance. Going to a larger camshaft is going to be a rob Peter to pay Paul thing. Upping the compression will help you gain some (not all) of the low RPM loss back. Lots to chose from, but best to match a set of components so you get your desired results. We have just started our 110 water cooled testing so over the next 4 -6 weeks we will have results of the baseline bike, then bolt in camshafts and tuning, same as we did for the 103HO engine. There will be results from Andrews, Tman, Fueling, SE, BW, GMR and S&S, possible a few others. Not sure of how many I will get done but the baseline is a CVO Street Glide ShowerHead 110 with Fulsac DX, baffles and high flow AC. No other changes will be made so it's a true bolt in camshaft deal and tunes.

The Best you know, is the Best you've had........ not necessarily the Best.

I used the same setup on my'10 Limited exactly with the addition of a 30T front pulley and the TTS tune.
Pulled my trailer all over the US with this setup and this combo worked perfect for us!
Didn't have to mill the heads or pistons, enough clearance with this cam so there's no problem.
IMHO, this is a nice setup for pulling that trailer.

BTW, this combo made 100/100 on a fair dyno with a S/E air cleaner and modified CVO mufflers and Fullsac header.
If you like, contact Fullsac to get all the details, my bike was there.
Hope this helps.
