How do you know when Softail shocks go bad?
« on: August 23, 2014, 11:33:27 PM »

My son has a Softail. He had a rear tire replaced in a Indy shop in New Orleans and they did not align the axle correctly causing the tire to rub the belt. You can see the fiber on the inside edge of the belt. I corrected the alignment and belt tension. Now he has a squeek when bouncing on the bike. You can feel it (when it squeeks) in the  swingarm when bouncing on the seat. Is it swingarm bushing/bearings or the shocks? I have never worked on a Softail before. Suggestions? Hints? Help?
Thanks Guys.

Can't help much without seeing, but I have a set of shocks w/1100 mi off a 2000 FXST you can have if thats the problem. I'm sure they will fit in a Med Priority box, I think 'bout 12.99. PM me if interested.
