Questions on buying a '06 CVO Ultra
« on: August 30, 2014, 12:57:14 PM »

My beloved FLHR is under the weather for the rest of the riding season so I'm looking into something reasonably priced to get me on the road. I see there is a '06 CVO with 11,000 miles on it, (Craigslist). He is the original owner, pictures make it look better than mint and he updated the trans to a 6 speed in 2009. Asking $9100 because of pending divorce issues. What do you think, (I know it's the older frame and won't handle like my 2011 or have the fuel range etc). Good price or not?

Do you have a link to the posting? It would give us a better idea of price and value.

With that low mileage if it is in great shape I would think that is a great deal. On a road trip and saw an 06 CVO ultra at a dealer. Low 20,000s mileage and he wanted $22k for it.

The trouble with me is I'm on Vancouver Island, B.C. Canada and it's quite a distance to go look it over.
Thanks for the replies so far...

I wonder if it's a scam. He does not list the mileage.

He returned a mail to me answering all my questions plus some. He has it listed on several Craigs sites, (different locations, the bike is in Provo, UT). 11,300 miles I think he said on one listing. He is definitely well spoken and seems intelligent, willing to work with me and provided VIN. The thing is it would be a temporary ride for one month and then I'd have my RK back next spring, but it is a nice temp ride IMHO and the price seems exceptional.

I had that exact scoot before the one I own now, it's a great bike and I wouldn't hesitate. If I remember correctly someone on this site is also selling one just like it.

That's a steal sounds way too good to be true which is usually a scam on Doucheslist.

So my 2cnets since I own one and also have it for sale.  It seems like way too good a deal.  I have mine at $13,500 right now with 54k miles on the MC and 22k on the new motor.

The only reason I am selling it is we also have a 2009 Ultra and I need to sell one of them to buy a new truck.  If it doesn't sell in the next couple weeks I am going to put the 09 up for sale and see if it might sell easier.

My wife & I love the 06 even though the 09 rides and handles a bit better.  I put a 107 in the 09 and the 103 will still run circles around it.

If the deal is real on the Craigs List MC, it is a steal for that MC.

Hummm, 11K miles on an 06 and he's a "premium" customer that gets a free 6 speed upgrade?

Sounds fishy to me, I have an 06 and there's no way I'd let it go at that price.... never seen one that cheap before either.
