Feedback in the clutch lever when shifting. Is that normal??
« on: October 05, 2014, 11:32:24 AM »

I recently picked up a 2015 CVO Limited.  The first thing I noticed is when I shift gears I can feel it in the clutch lever.  It's like someone is tapping my hand with their finger.  I asked the service manager at the dealership if he's experienced it before and he hadn't.  He said to put some miles on it and see if it gets worse or better.  I've only got about 200 miles on it so far.  I checked for recalls for my VIN and there are none.  I did not experience it on my 2009 CVO Ultra Classic.  Has anyone noticed clutch lever feedback when you shift gears?

I know exactly what you mean...when I  demo rode of the CVO Street Glide...you could really feel the shifting through the clutch lever.....don't know if this is normal or not.

My 07 FXDSE has been pulsing for a while...no slippage.I rebuilt the Master Cylinder and Slave cylinder with OEM Harley parts. clutch is now dragging...ordered the Barnett Kevlar extra Plate kit ...I am 99.9% certain there is a slight warpage in the plates and discs that when added up(tolerance stacking) it is enough to make it feedback and drag.....parts should be here tomorrow.

Funny that - one of the first things I said after I got my 14 TKSE..... Dealership looked puzzled, and my friend, with a new TK said it wasn't like that on his....  Glad to hear it's not just me!

Felt on my last 3 hydraulic clutch Harleys, feels like a slight push (or flex) in the lever.

well new friction discs and steel plates are in...no more pulsing but ....BUT....the clutch drags real bad at stoplights. While idling , in neutral, clutch plates fully separate and shifting into gear is awesome......however ....as soon as you leave the line and attem t to shift into 2nd the clutch does not separate the the plates completely and it almost will not shift or allow you to stop...WTH???? I seems if the tranny output shaft is turning , the clutch only disengages part way....

what type oil you using?? is oil level to high?? that can cause some drag, mine likes the oil level a lill low, about 25 to 30 oz.  :nixweiss:

I feel that light "tick" in the clutch lever when I shift gears in my 2013 SERK. I figured it was characteristic of the newly designed clutch assy.

Might be I guess.  Certainly not on my 09, 07, or 06 hydraulic clutches.

Maybe the clutch isn't disengaging completely?   :nixweiss:  That might transmit some of the "contact" from changing gears.  Where does your friction zone start: close to the grip, or when clutch lever is fully out?

Not that I don't think - it feels completely normal in every other way except that, including the friction zone.
