2011 Screamin Eagle Street Glide Amp Down
« on: July 18, 2011, 09:33:15 AM »

Welllllllllllll, I thought I was one of the fortunate ones. But yesterday my stereo woke up with NO SOUND. Checked fuses but..............................

Calling the dealer this morning to see how long I'm going to have to wait. Bummer! I could hear the scoot crying in the garage all night.

Bummer.  It's incredible that with so many failures, Harley keeps putting the same pos amp back in the bikes.  I've gone through two already.

Is this just the 2011 SESG?

I have a 2010 SESG w/32k miles on it and (knock on wood) it's still playin w/no issues.  I listen to XM (a cable from my GPS to the face of the head unit) 95% of the time and CD the other 5%.

They need to come out with a 6 disc in dash player. :2vrolijk_21:

You can check out my latest post of the Street Glide section but HD has a new part number for the amp (760014). The old part number was 77041-11. There are none available at this time. HD says that the NEW units will be shipping from their US packager no sooner than July 25th. These will then be sipped to their main distribution center for dealer access.

If you're having an issue now DON'T let a dealer install the old part number unless you want a high failure rate part on your bike.

I'm guessing at least a month to get my tunes back in working order.

I asked HD to allow a local dealer to install a NON-OEM amp and they said NO! Gotta love quality customer service!

I think my amp has gone out. I called a local HD stealership and they say : we need to run diags on it $91.  If the problem does not show I'm liable for the $91. He also stated if there are any aftermarket stuff warranty will be void.  I hear popping in the speakers with the connectors out of radio and with radio off also. Heres the problem. I have wired in the XM modules as shown here . It has worked flawlessly for 6months, I soldered the can connections on the ipod module side of the connection, I them connected the other 3 wires from xm connector into the large connector on back of radio. I have removed the xm mod from circuit but had to use shrink tubing to cover solder joints,, Will they void warranty for hooking up their boom audio components??  Anyone tried a warranty claim with the extra boom audio connected??  don't know which way to go.

The SESG3 gets a new, 200W amp inside the fairing for the fairing and fairing lower speakers.

And a second 200W amp for the 5X7 speakers in the saddlebag lids.

Perhaps your dealer can get HD to substitute the new 200W amp for the 100W OEM amp.

Good luck.

My just went down earlier this week as well.

Had about 30 seconds of cutting in and out of different speakers then all sound went dead.

Display indicated that Radio, CD, & Ipod each were working but no sound.

Finally had time to take it to my dealer day before yesterday - about an hour before closing and left it overnight.

Picked it up yesterday - sure enough it's the amp.

Replacement is on backorder - right now expected on or about 15 August BUT that date can be slipped.

In the meantime my dealer did me a solid and somehow by-passed the amp so I have all my tunes just at a lower level.

JC - I'm guessing here but are the '11s the 1st year with the integrated amp?  If so, that's probably why we're the ones experiencing the problem and not the '10s - yours would be an external amp - just a thought as to why you're not seeing this issue.
You'd better knock on some more wood just to make sure though.
BUT - why not use the Ipod?

fattie - sorry brother, I haven't done any mods on my sound system so I can't really respond except to say that it sux your service dept is going to treat you like that.

Just met up with Pete from Soundz today at Wildwood, NJ rally and had him check everything.  Sure enough, HD radio dead.  Replaced with his Sony marine grade unit. All good now...actually, better now.
